Columbia College Interview Clothing Closet

Students may receieve free professional clothing to be used for job interviews. For more information, call (209) 588-5273 or stop by the Career Transfer Center located in Manzanita 290. 

Nancy's Hope

Nancy's Hope is a Sonora-based thrift store that has gently-used and vintage clothing, collectibles, and specialty items. The store has several programs for individuals in need of clothing or other household items. All of these programs can be used with the clothes voucher program. Store availability of clothing and items is dependent on donations.

Programs include:

The clothes voucher program: Community members can obtain clothing, bedding, towels, and other necessity items and are asked to give back by donating $5 for every $30 spent. However, nobody is turned away if they do not have money to pay.

  • The store also supports parents-to-be by providing pregnant people, foster parents, their infants and foster children with everything they might need such as diapers, wipes, bottles, bedding, and larger items such as baby swings, high chairs, baby gates, etc.   

  •   The Heart2Hand program provides unsheltered people with necessary survival items such as tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, and blankets.   

  • The Fresh Start program assists previously unsheltered people or people recovering from losing their home due to a disaster with house furnishings for their new home. Items include beds, couches, kitchen appliances, dishes, and more.   
  • The Princess project provides formal attire to middle and high school students who are in need of proper attire to attend dances or other school functions. Wedding attire is also occasionally available.   
  • The Dress 4 Success program provides appropriate job-seeking and interview attire for people looking for jobs. Scrubs are also occasionally available.

Interfaith

Interfaith Community Social Services provides clothing for community members in need. This service is only for Tuolumne County residents. For more information, call (209) 532-0905. Interfaith is located at 18500 Striker Court off Tuolumne Road West of Standard Road in Sonora.  Learn more online 

Church Clothes Closets

  • A free clothes closet is hosted every Wednesday night from 4 pm to 5:30 pm at San Andreas Community Covenant Church at 261 Treat Avenue in San Andreas. Clothing, shoes, toiletries, and blankets are also available, depending on donations. Free community meal is also hosted at the church from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.    
    This church also hosts free showers every Tuesday from 3 pm to 5 pm with soap and towels provided. For more information, call (209) 754-3881.  Learn more online 

  • Clothed in Love is a ministry ran by Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church in Valley Springs. This program serves people of all ages and is hosted in person at 4684 Baldwin Street in Valley Springs on the fourth Saturday of each month from 9 am to 11 am.  For more information, call (209) 772-9548.   • Sonora United Methodist Church provides a community meal every Thursday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. During this time, community members are also welcome to check out available clothing that the church has available. The church is located at 90 Yaney Avenue in Sonora.
