Peer Tutor Eligibility Criteria

• GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred but not required
• Currently enrolled in at least 6 units
• Enrollment of Peer Tutor Training Course (TUTOR 100) if hired
• Recommendation from Columbia faculty for courses the applicant wishes to tutor
• Completion of Peer Tutor Application and YCCD paperwork/fingerprinting
• Interview

Desirable Characteristics of a Tutor

• Patience during the learning process
• Flexibility
• An interest in helping others
• Willingness to assist with other projects during slower times

If hired as a tutor, you have the opportunity to earn certification through the College Reading and Learning Association.
