Columbia College President's Message
On behalf of everyone at Columbia College, we welcome you. The Columbia College employees are dedicated to excellence in serving our students. Even with all the fiscal challenges throughout the state, they have been working miracles with our minuscule budgets to continue to provide our students with a quality education. As president, I am very proud of their efforts and dedication.
My advice to all current and prospective students is, as soon as you pick up a class schedule—start planning for your spring semester classes. The earlier you see a counselor and register for classes, the more likely it is that you will be able to get the classes you need to achieve your higher education goals. This is also true for your financial aid; don’t wait until the last minute!
Even in spite of state wide fiscal constraints on our budget, Columbia College has so much to offer its students. Distance Education is gaining momentum as we reach residents throughout our communities. Our curriculum is constantly being reviewed and updated to keep pace with current technologies and emerging trends to make our students competitive in the workplace and/or ready to graduate or transfer to four year universities. Now, more than ever it is time to focus on all the positive things that we have happening at the college. All of the faculty, staff and managers are continuously working to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each student who enters Columbia College, regardless of their educational development, has an opportunity to exit with the skills and education they need to achieve their goals.
Whether you are a new student or a returning one, we encourage you to be proactive in your education and take advantage of all the college has to offer.
