College Research and Planning

Welcome to the Columbia College Office of Research and Planning! We are a full-service research department dedicated to the Columbia College community. Our primary services include:
  • Integrated planning – The Office of Research and Planning is deeply involved in analytic reporting for college planning activities like the Educational and Facilities Master Plans, strategic planning, accreditation, and grant management

  • Formative and summative evaluation support – We are experts in social science research methodology, and work with community members to develop protocols to monitor the impacts of programs and services

  • Data development – We are content experts in the Yosemite Community College District's data stores and systems, and we work closely with research and systems teams across the district to help maintain a productive flow of information

  • Divisional support – Researchers analyze enrollment and completion trends to aid instructional program planning, and they help to summarize usage of student services to ensure that all Columbia College students benefit from non-instructional academic support mechanisms

How to make a request

Not seeing what you’re looking for? We are a small shop at a small college, and the best way to get service is just to send us an email or give us a call. Please plan ahead! Gathering data that is not already found in our online dashboards may take several days or weeks. Strategic planning, conceptual development, evaluation work, student success monitoring, and research project management are all highly involved activities that require ongoing collaboration. Be sure to contact us as soon as you begin planning your project, or as soon as you know that you will need to collect data.

Planning surveys, research, and other types of data gathering at Columbia College?

All internal and external actors intending to gather information of any sort on the Columbia College campus or from Columbia College’s community members (i.e., students, faculty, staff, and partners) should consult with the Office of Research and Planning prior to beginning any data collection, and should not proceed without an approval or referral.
