Fire Department Equipment

Apparatus

Columbia College Fire Department has three different pieces of equipment to complete different tasks. They are staffed twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year and respond to calls within the college campus and the surrounding area.

Engine 902

This engine is the college’s first out engine during the winter time. It is built more specifically to be used at structure fires. Engine 902 is a Type 1 and has a 1997 HME cab and chassis with a High Tech Fire-Apparatus build up. It has a two stage fire pump capable of pumping 1500 gallons per minute, and carries five hundred gallons of water. It responds to medical aids, vehicle accidents, structure and vegetation fires, and other emergency incidents throughout the county.

Breathing Support 795

This piece of equipment is the breathing support for the county. Breathing Support 795 is a Ford F-550 with a Bauer mobile air compressor. It is able to refill the air bottles used in Self Contained Breathing Apparatuses. Because it is the only mobile compressor in the county, it goes to every structure fire in the county. It also has a full complement of rope rescue equipment. This equipment is used for low angle rope rescue operations in the northwest part of the county. It also responds to medical aids, vehicle accidents, vegetation fires, and other emergency incidents throughout the county for supplement staffing.
