Training Opportunities and Flex Credit
Some of you are starting to play with the newly opened Canvas feature called Studio! This is a video/screen capture tool that offers interactivity by way of comments and/or quiz questions added to your videos, along with automatic captioning that you can edit, similar to our YouTube process. We will be doing a Canvas Studio Training on Friday, November 13 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend and completing the session/video will be available for Flex hours.
Also, Sara Mitchell has put together a Canvas workshop specifically designed for students, and held the first one last Wednesday, October 28. This will be a workshop that she offers multiple times at the beginning of the Spring semester as well. We gathered feedback from faculty on what they would most like their students to know about Canvas and Sara will incorporate as much as possible in this initial offering. The workshop will be advertised via the student newsletter, a Canvas Dashboard announcement and via the Student ambassadors and other Student Service personnel. If you would like to share an Announcement with your students, include the Date, Time and Zoom Link (as above)!
In addition to the links above Online Learning Faculty Resources includes a wide variety of resources for instructors developing and teaching online courses.
Also, CVC-OEI offers a wide variety of On-demand training for California Community Colleges throughout the year. Their Resources page has content for Faculty, Students, and Staff. Remember to use our Call List for additional support options from your colleagues who are experienced in Zoom and Canvas. Scheduled Workshops will be posted here and sent out via email.
If you have specific needs please email me, Kathy Schultz, and I'll see what I can put together and schedule.
Please feel free to use any of these photos as your background in Zoom
