The concept and content presented here comes from the ongoing efforts of the Columbia College Big Picture: Budget Discussion Group.
This page is dedicated to sharing clear, accurate and meaningful information regarding the current and future fiscal standing for Columbia College. Additionally, it is hoped that this page will provide fiscal context and provide a starting place for inquiry, discussion and learning.
This Pie Chart represents just one "Big Picture" view of our Columbia College fiscal environment. Columbia College relies on numerous revenue sources, but is most greatly defined by the General Fund (Fund 11) Budget. This figure shows how just one of our major budgets is allocated on an annual basis.
Columbia College relies on General Funds, State and Federal Categorical Funds, Grants and the generosity of CC Foundation Donors. If you would like to learn more about the various budgets that support Columbia College - follow this link!
Meaning and context for a wide range of fiscal data are reinforced through the Myth Busters Project. Here, connections between available information and 'fiscal Myths are provided through exploring common myths or areas of fiscal uncertainty. Our hope is that you will find one or more myths that address specific concerns you might have or have heard. If this happens - check it out and become an advocate and resource for data-informed decision making at Columbia College.
REVIEW, RETHINK and RESHAPE! This is the theme for the Columbia College Rainy Day Plan Project. Rainy Day Plans are college-wide presentations from programs or areas that want to share how they have collaboratively developed savings plans. These savings plans have a primary focus on WHAT are the most important things to save, instead of simply saving money. These presentations focus on how entire areas (programs) have worked together to REVIEW current college priorities, RETHINK how they might operate, and RESHAPE how they will meet student needs in changing times.
This is program review in the truest sense, in that faculty and staff are sharing how continuing cycles of evaluation will lead to improvement. Rainy Day Plans help ensure that we are truly meeting student needs and focusing on institutional effectiveness.
Follow this link if you want to know when open budget forums occur or to explore information and presentations that have been shared at the ongoing Columbia College open budget forums. College Budget Forums are open to anyone who wants to attend, and all questions (even non-budget related) are welcome and will be addressed. Attendees are encouraged to speak out and share their thoughts, questions, concerns or ideas.
The Big Picture: Budget Discussion Group is not the budget committee for Columbia College - The Big Picture Budget Discussion Group's charge is to stimulate discussion and provide resources relating to budget planning.
