FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

36th Annual Columbia Wine Tasting A Californian Tradition hosted in the Foothills

Take the charm of a historic gold rush town, add ample food and wine, and you’ve got one extraordinary Sunday afternoon. With more than 60 participating wineries and several local restaurants serving up exquisite hors d’oeuvres, the Columbia Wine Tasting is a verifiable wine and food lover’s paradise. Hosted by the Columbia College Foundation, this year’s wine tasting, the 36th Annual, will be held on Sunday, April 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

“As one of California’s oldest and most popular wine tastings, it continues to attract big names from Napa and Sonoma along with rising stars from our own Sierra foothills,” notes Tom Bender, wine instructor at Columbia College and co-chair of the event. “The historic setting along with the specialty foods offers a unique environment for tasting many of the participating wineries’ new releases and old favorites.”

Gourmet hors d’oeuvres are prepared and served by Columbia College Culinary Arts students, the beneficiaries of this event. In addition, regional food vendors like Diestel Turkey Ranch, Camacho’s Southwestern Grill, The Rock, and the Fiscalini Cheese Company offer attendees a taste of their most delicious dishes. The list of participating wineries thus far includes Amador Foothill Winery, Bell Wine Cellars, Benziger Family Winery, Bodega Del Sur Winery, Cameron Hughes Wine, Dancing Coyote, David Gerard Vineyards, Duckhorn Vineyards, Frank Family Vineyards, Frog’s Tooth Vineyards, Gianelli Vineyards, Haraszthy Family Cellars, Hall Winery, Hatcher Winery, Hovey Wine, Husch Vineyards, Ironstone Vineyards, J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines, Lavender Ridge Vineyard, McManis Family Vineyards, Metate Hill Vineyards, Mettler Family Vineyards, Milliaire Winery, Most Wanted Wine Company, Naughty Boy Vineyards, Newsome Harlow, Pina Napa Valley, Prospect 772 Wines, Robert Hall Wines, Rock Wall Wine Company, Rombauer Vineyards, Rutherford Ranch, Schramsberg Vineyards, Shenandoah Vineyards, Silkwood Wines, Silver Oak Cellars, Sobon Family Wines, St. Amant Winery, Terra d’Oro Winery, Terra Rouge/Easton, Thomas Fogarty Winery, Three Pears, Twisted Oak Winery, Twomey Cellars, Vino Noceto, ZD Winery, and Zucca Mountain Vineyards.

A silent auction offers unique and exciting goods and services for attendees to purchase, including food and wine-themed gift baskets, private wine tastings, dinner party certificates, and of course, specialty wines.

Admittance is just $50 per person for reservations purchased in advance through April 11th; visit www.gocolumbia.edu/foundation or call (209) 588-5089.  A limited number of reservations will be offered the day of the event for $60 per person, as available.  Reservations include a souvenir wine glass. Proceeds from this event benefit Columbia College’s Culinary Arts program by providing student scholarships and instructional equipment and supplies.
