34th Annual Columbia Wine Tasting

serves good times with a purpose

The 34th Annual Columbia Wine Tasting, sponsored by the Columbia College Foundation, is among the most popular spring events in the Mother Lode simply because it combines the best with the best – a picturesque setting, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and wine, wine, wine!  This year’s wine tasting will be held on Sunday, April 18 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Columbia State Historic Park.

Set in the historic gold rush town of Columbia, attendees stroll among quaint buildings, indulge in delicious food samples, and taste fine wines from a growing list of participating wineries.  Last year over 500 guests attended this sold-out event.

Proceeds benefit the college’s culinary arts program by providing student scholarships and culinary equipment and supplies.  A silent auction offers unique and exciting goods and services to choose from, including food and wine-themed gift baskets, private wine tastings and dinner party certificates, and of course - numerous specialty wines.

The list of wineries in attendance thus far include Big Horn Cellars, Black Sheep Winery, Bodega Del Sur, Boitano Family Wines, Brice Station Vintners, Cameron Hughes Wines, Chatom Vineyards, Cosentino Winery, Estancia Estates, Frank Family Vineyards, Haraszthy Family Cellars, Hatcher Winery, Hill Family Estate, Hovey Wine, Ironstone Vineyards, J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines, Laraine Winery, Lavender Ridge Winery, m2 wines, Milliaire Winery, Most Wanted Wine Company, Mt. Brow Winery, Newsome-Harlow Vineyards, Nickel and Nickel, Phipps Family Cellars, Prospect 772 Wine Company, Quady Winery, Robert Mondavi Winery, Rock Wall Wine Company, Rombauer Vineyards, Seghesio Family Vineyards, Shenandoah Vineyards, Sierra Vista Winery, Silver Oak Cellars, Sobon Family Wines, Solomon Wine Company, St. Amant Winery, Trinitas Cellars, Twisted Oak Winery, Vino Noceto, Wild Horse Winery and Zucca Mountain Vineyards.

Organizers anticipate that over 60 wineries will be represented at the tasting, as well as regional food vendors like the Calaveras Olive Oil Company, Diestel Turkey Ranch, and the Fiscalini Cheese Company.  Over 3,000 gourmet hors d’oeuvres are also prepared and served by Columbia College culinary arts students.  A list of participating wineries and food vendors is updated weekly at the Columbia College Foundation website (www.gocolumbia.edu/foundation).

Admittance to this première wine event is just $45 per person. Reservations can be made online by visiting www.gocolumbia.edu/foundation or by calling 209.588.5089.  Due to the popularity of this event, it is highly recommended that reservations are made in advance.
