V. Discussion Items:

 Tamale Lunch – Luisa reported she and her family had made 108 homemade tamales for the tamale lunch to raise money for the Classified Senate scholarship fund. She is asking for only a $30.25 reimbursement for items bought to make the tamales, any cost beyond this she is donating to the fund. This special tamale lunch will be held in the Manzanita Rotunda March 19, 2009 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. $6.00 per lunch consisting of: One homemade tamale, beans, rice, salsa and chips. No drinks will be provided.

Sam will reserve the rotunda for March 19th, and also advertise the Tamale Lunch in the Student Bulletin, Columbia College e-mail in a ‘Save the Date’ format, the school Marquee, In-Site, and she will join with Gail Segerstrom to create flyers and posters. Sam will provide table clothes. Nancy and Arlene will acquire plates, napkins, and eating utensils. Arlene will check into a ‘salsa donation’ from a local restaurant. We will have available at the sales table the payroll deduction forms for the scholarship fund. Lonnie will supply some brochures that explain the Classified Senate’s roll as Columbia College representatives for all classified employees. The brochures are dated and need a fresh review but are still basically accurate.

 Classified Senate Website – We should give thought to listing the officers and their pictures with a short biography beneath it on our webpage.

We agreed the documents we consistently want available on our webpage are: all of the minutes, the agenda, all forms, location and times of the meetings, plus an explanation of ‘How to get on the agenda’. We need to create a form for ‘Agenda Request.’

Currently Brian DeMoss is working on a new website format. Lonnie will speak with Brian regarding a new look to our website and putting on forms and information. We probably need a website committee. It was suggested KC Marshall may be willing to assist us with our web design. Discussion about Omni; it has a standardizing format that should be departmentally friendly for our future use.

 Classified Senate Unit Plan: Dennis Gervin has sent out an e-mail to staff regarding integration of Unit Planning Sessions. Sessions have been set up to offer hands-on experience working with the data, and technology support. Feb 2nd at 3:30 in Sequoia 8 Computer Lab and Feb 5th will be in Fir 1 Computer Lab. Lonnie read the e-mail from Dennis and requested volunteers to go to a meeting on behalf of the Classified Senate for our unit plan. Lonnie, Dave, Doralyn, Sam and Arlene will attend a meeting. Nancy explained the steps and use of unit planning tool and the old name was comp plan, stressing we need a new one.

 StaffNet: Discussion about using it and what it offers for information.

 Reminder of the Classified Breakfast February 20, 2009, Buckeye 3 at 9:30 am.

 Reminder: April is election month for officers

Adjournment – The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 AM.
